Transportation Town
The Whatcom Council of Governments Board are proud to announce that the regional website, www.TransportationTown.com, has won the Transportation Research Board's Second Annual TRB Communication in Transportation Competition.
TransportationTown is an educational website about transportation in Whatcom County. The site targets citizens seeking information about various modes of transportation in our area. Links for each mode are provided, and an engaging home page allows users to have fun while learning regionally-relevant information about land use, transportation, and multimodal planning.
An interactive game lets visitors build a city and make decisions illustrating relationships between land use and transportation. The game demonstrates how those decisions affect air quallity, mobility, and city appeal, and show the relative values of investment in transportation modes. The goal is to keep mobility high, pollution low, and the people happy.
